[Feature Request / logic flaw]Block appearence for the override caret cursor.
Hi. I just learned the difference between the insert and override modes that can be switched by pressing the insert button. I can see that it can be useful to switch between the two.
Earlier, I saw in the preferences that the caret cursor can be turned into a block appearance instead of the vertical line appearance, I immediately thought this is how the overwrite cursor should look like. So I went there and changed it to the block mode only to discover that the block cursor which highlights the character that it is standing on only works for the insert mode and that overwrite mode only has that blinking underline cursor.
Disappointing! this block mode is already there, so why can’t we use it for the overwrite mode, that’s where it is supposed to be used, that makes more sense. It should be the other way around…
Can someone please change this to allow us to use the block caret in the overwrite mode in some way?
Thanks for valuing my opinions!
afaik, the underlying scintilla control is handling this.
